Harry Leighton was born in October 1895 in Colwich, Staffordshire, his father, Henry, was 42 and his mother, Mary, was 42. He had three brothers and two sisters. He died on 22 April 1918 in France at the age of 22, and was buried in Pas-de-Calais, France.

Records show that he worked for WH Smiths & Co before joining up with the !3th Army Service Corps as a driver T/1/2014 on the 18/7/1915. then transferring to the Highland Light Infantry 2nd battalion.

The 1911 Census has Harry Leighton aged 15 born Gt. Haywood, Staffs, living in Milford, nr Stafford.

His brother William medal is in my Other Leighton's collection

The head of house is a Thomas Chillingworth aged 38 and Harry is down as his brother but I think it is his wife Sarah Jane's brother, as also living there is a Beatrice Annie Leighton referred to as Sister in Law, aged 25 born Gt. Harwood. (see 1901 census)
